Englewood Pollinator Park Network
Islands of green create a network to reintroduce pollinators and wildlife into this industrial neighborhood
This series of three project sites work together to create a cohesive green network while maintaining individual characters: the Industrial Pollinator Park Network is consists of District Park, Carnation Streetscape, and First Responder Memorial Park. Due to its proximity to the Englewood Earth Treks climbing gym, the District pocket park provides a series of three large outdoor rooms providing space for both movement and social connection. To the north, the Carnation Streetscape references the historic carnation industry that once thrived in this neighborhood through evocative Dianthus plantings and a corten steel commemorative plaque. Finally, First Responder Memorial park provides a space of reflection and relaxation near the Englewood Police Station. Original I-beams from the World Trade Center have been repurposed and positioned as sculptural elements throughout the park. Plantings and trees were chosen to create soft, relaxing spaces in smaller outdoor rooms to ensure comfort and privacy. Plant populations have been chosen for all three sites to attract native pollinators and provide urban habitat for Denver wildlife.
